The 30-year average fixed mortgage rate hit 6.29% this week. That’s more than a quarter of a percentage point higher than last week and more than three percentage points higher than in early 2022, when it was 3.22%, according to Freddie Mac.

The Federal Reserve met this week to determine its next move in its fight against inflation. He decided to raise the federal funds rate by 75 basis points, or 0.75 percentage points. Fixed mortgage rates at 30 years
