The ride on the Elden Ring Twitch Streamer drawing tablet is ridiculous

Twitch Luality streamer's jaw drops to the ground after stabbing and killing a Limgrave knight.

Another day, another Ring of the Elden challenge race. Ever since FromSoftware’s hugely popular Soulslike came out on February 25th, Tarnished around the world has approached the game in absolutely insane ways. But while beating it with one hand And playing it with a harp are impressive, Twitch Luality streamer has taken it to a whole new level lately by attempting to finish Ring of the Elden with a fucking drawing tablet.

You may have already heard of Luality. A Brazilian content creator who mainly plays Soulslikes Contraction And Youtube, Luality has been challenging herself to beat these tough games in truly insane ways for a minute now. In 2018, for example, she moved on Dark Souls 3 with a Dance Dance Revolution dance pad, killing tough bosses like the Dancer of the Boreal Valley And the Nameless King while a storm sweats. Her later darkened everything Ring of the EldenThey are the bad guys with the dance pada feat that has brought so much attention to her ended up making an appearance on Intel’s PAX West booth. You can imagine how shocked I was watching Luality do this. As FromSoft’s game continues to kick my ass, here she is, body after garment with a dance mat like it’s nothing.

So when I stumbled Luality tramples Godrick the Graft with a graphics tablet while scrolling the Ring of the Elden subreddit, I was flabbergasted and needed to find out more. How come? How did the configuration work? Was playing with a graphics tablet difficult, and more specifically, was it more difficult than with a dance mat? I got a chance to chat with Luality via Twitter DM, who gave me all the tea.

From Software / Luality

Perhaps the most confusing part of running is how it works. Luality analyzed it, explaining that he is using both a PC and a PS5 (via PlayStation Remote Play) for streaming. Ring of the Elden to his Wacom Cintiq Pro 13 tablet. Things aren’t perfect, he said, but with the help of his community, he put together something similar it worked well enough for her to beat the stupid Tree Sentinel waiting all Misted at the beginning of Limgrave.

“I had this idea two weeks ago, I asked some friends for help and in three days we could have had a prototype that barely worked,” Luality said. “Then I went to PAX West. I was invited to play the dance pad Ring of the Elden live at the Intel booth! It was amazing! As soon as I got home I continued working on the tablet run and right now we are almost perfect and by perfect I mean barely possible! This race is held together by my hopes and dreams more than anything else! I am using five different programs which are not meant to work together to make this possible. But slowly fixing things and making things more stable was a lot of fun, especially when the rush started to take shape and I started killing the bosses. it just makes me happy how far we have come in such a short time! “

If you’ve seen some of Luality’s clips, you’ll notice that it draws strokes on the tablet screen to perform in-game actions such as attacking (a straight line) and jumping (a triangle). Some commands were too cumbersome to work with. Camera control, for example, was impossible with this setup, so he gave up completely, relying only on the “reset camera” command. Accuracy is impossible here, which according to Luality made the ride “incredibly difficult and frustrating” but totally doable.

“Both the dance pad and the graphics tablet are not very reliable controllers and they have their own challenges, but the tablet beats the dance pad on that,” Luality said. “In many places they combine equally badly. I don’t even have camera control. But at least on the dance floor, I can hold the keys down so things like running and walking diagonally are more reliable. I can’t keep the keys with the tablet. I have to keep drawing and drawing. Sometimes the tablet allows me to walk diagonally, but if I’m using my pen, I have to choose a direction or I’m overwhelmed with inputs! Talking about this makes me laugh. I love how this all barely works. It makes it more fun and special for me.

Something he’s a little more aware of during this challenge run is how his body feels while playing.

“My wrists are good,” Luality said. “Sometimes, the position where I need the tablet hurts my hands a little, but I’m working to fix it, so it’s not a long-term problem! A while ago I damaged a tendon in my feet while running with the dance pad, but mostly I’m fine now!

From Software / Luality

Of course, this isn’t Luality’s first outing Ring of the Elden. Although she can’t tell how many times she has beaten the game, she is willing to finish it with the drawing board because she is “too stubborn” to give up now. However, she talked about the hardest part of the ride so far, which, perhaps surprisingly, was just a walk through the in-between lands with her Misted of hers. Initially she consisted of drawing lines to initiate movement, but just like the camera control, it became too cumbersome. Instead, Luality superimposed a virtual keyboard just for the movement of the characters, which simplified things a bit.

The software installation is in the works, so Luality has not shared the programs it is using to make this possible. However, she has repeatedly shouted at her community for helping her make it through.

“I’m not doing this alone,” Luality said. “People in my community have helped me and have always helped me a lot. The reason why I always say “we did it!” when we do something beautiful it is because it has always been a group effort. They help me solve problems. They help me understand the details. They help me try different things. They support me financially so I can afford to take the time and buy the materials needed for those races and, above all, they are always there for me and believe in me even when I don’t believe in myself and keep me going. “

I love her community, Luality, and you really get that sense of camaraderie by watching her streams. Not only does he give valuable relationship advice – example: respect yourself, don’t put up with bullshit – but he also gives digital high fives every time he achieves something, whether it’s defeating a tough enemy or surviving a huge fall from a cliff. It’s really healthy, not least because she is flows with its rabbits. That doesn’t make it any less stressful, though, and I sweated seeing her repeatedly being punched by her bosses.

So what are the prospects for Luality? Apart from the finish Ring of the Elden with his graphics tablet: it’s almost halfway through the game on his part latest stream on Twitchwho is currently battling Rennala Queen of the Full Moon and Starscourge Radahn, is also summoning other series of really crazy challenges for FromSoftware’s latest Soulslike.

“I have been playing FromSoftware games in weird ways for many years,” Luality said. “I often think and have strange ideas for racing. I have a piano race planned shortly. Most of the things are ready [on that front]! “
