Tech IPOs won’t be back on the market anytime soon

Tech companies that want to raise capital are waiting on the sidelines as market conditions remain tough.

Tech stocks took a hit in 2022 with several companies seeing their share value plummet by more than 60%, leaving private companies waiting for capital markets to reopen, Thomas Hayes, president of Great Hill Capital in New York.

As of September 21, there will have been 238 days without a tech IPO worth over $ 50 million. This shortage of technology IPOs beats previous records set after the 2008 financial crisis and the dotcom crash in the early 2000s, as companies wait for market conditions to improve so they can get a good price when they go public.
