  • Together, BCG and Quantis will drive global transformation towards a new planetary economy where business brings nature to the table

BOSTON-Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the leading global strategic consulting firm, has announced an agreement to acquire Quantis, a pioneering environmental sustainability consulting firm that leads many of the world’s largest organizations in their sustainability transformation. The parties expect the acquisition to close by the end of the month.

Quantis was founded in 2006 and has since grown to over 250 environmental experts and transformation specialists based primarily in Europe and the United States. The global consulting firm has a proven track record in implementing a systems-level science-based approach to accelerate sustainable business transformation to operate within the world’s borders1. Quantis is recognized for driving innovative solutions to critical and diverse environmental challenges, from climate change and biodiversity loss to water scarcity, deforestation and plastic pollution. Quantis will operate as a standalone business unit within BCG and will retain its brand and leadership team.

“The merger of Quantis and BCG is an exciting step to strengthen our ability to help customers protect our planet and transform it sustainably,” said Christoph Schweizer, CEO of BCG. “Many of the CEOs I speak to want to take action but are looking for the kind of deep experience our Quantis team offers to solve their complex problems. I am proud to welcome this experienced and passionate team to BCG ”.

“The combination of BCG’s vast industry knowledge and transformation capacity with Quantis’ deep scientific expertise and solid reputation for sustainability will create an unstoppable force to drive the transition from business as usual to business at best,” said Dimitri Caudrelier , CEO of Quantis. “The stakes for our planet have never been higher. This agreement will enable us to take a fundamental step towards realizing our vision of a new planetary economy. I am also excited about the opportunities it will create for Quantisians to increase their level of impact and grow professionally. Joining BCG will enable us to accelerate the science-driven sustainable transformation that Quantis has been unwaveringly committed to since our inception. ”

“In the face of ever-pressing environmental challenges, we continue to invest courageously in our market leadership in climate and sustainability,” said Schweizer. “In addition to strengthening BCG with the acquisition of Quantis, we plan to recruit thousands more climate and sustainability experts in the coming years and continue to expand our partner network.”

BCG was recently announced as the exclusive advisory partner for COP27, which will be held in Egypt in November, providing analytical capabilities and industry insights from its extensive experience in helping companies, governments and multilateral organizations accelerate their journey on the subject of climate and sustainability. BCG’s support for COP27 complements its long-standing support for the global climate agenda through collaborations with the World Economic Forum, United Nations high-level climate change champions, successive COP presidencies, SBTi (Goal Based Goal Initiative on science), CDP (Carbon Dissemination Project), Breakthrough Energy Catalyst and First Mover Coalition.
