Life Time releases details for the 2022 Chicago Triathlon, August 27-28

Athletes from all over the world, including over 800 first-time participants, will compete in one of the most famous endurance races in the world

CHICAGO – (July 21, 2022) /RESISTENCE SPORT JERSEY / – The Life Time Chicago Triathlon, one of the most recognized endurance races in the world, returns to the waterways and streets of the Windy City on August 27 and 28.

The Life Time Chicago Triathlon, owned and manufactured by the nation’s leading healthy lifestyle brand, gives athletes unparalleled access to the nation’s premier metropolis via a protected swim in the harbor, a dynamic multi-level bike ride, followed by a scenic ride through the Museum Campus. All courses are accessible to wheelchairs and para-triathletes. To date, more than 5,000 athletes from 44 states and 14 countries are registered; the youngest is 6 years old and the oldest 89. In addition, more than 800 first-time participants are expected to compete, in part thanks to the efforts of The Life Time Chicago Triathlon First-Timers’ Program and the Life Time Tri Club. , who work to prepare and encourage the participation of new triathletes.

Last year, Brett Colins of La Grange, Illinois took home the men’s international division title with a time of 1:59:57, while Chicago resident Daniel Raleigh broke the ribbon first in the event. of the men’s Sprint division with a time of 1: 12:19. Chicago’s Susan Fanning won both the Women’s International Race and the Women’s Sprint Event with times of 2:21:18 and 1:22:11 respectively.

The Life Time Chicago Triathlon weekend kicks off on Friday 26 August with the Multisport and Fitness Expo at the Hilton Chicago, followed by the Life Time Kids Triathlon and the Life Time Chicago Triathlon SuperSprint on Saturday 27 August. The races of the Sprint and International divisions take place on Sunday 28 August. Additionally, the Triple Challenge will be offered once again, allowing competitors to compete in three events totaling 59 miles between Saturday and Sunday. The Triple Challenge involves a 1.63-mile swim, 46.3-mile bike distance, and 10.85-mile run.

The weekend program and the breakdown of the race distance are as follows:

Saturday 27th August

  • 7:00 – Juniors Kids Tri (100m swim, 2.2 mile bike, 0.62 mile run)
  • 8:00 am – Seniors Kids Tri (200m swim, 4.4 mile bike, 1.24 mile run)
  • 10:00 – SuperSprint (0.47 mile swim, 6.2 mile bike, 1.5 mile run)

Sunday 28th August

  • 6:00 am – International (0.93 mile swim, 24.8 mile bike, 6.2 mile run)
  • 8:08 – Sprint (47-mile swim, 15-mile bike, 3.1-mile run)

Notable groups looking forward to the race weekend include longtime partners Life Time Chicago Triathlon Tri-Masters, whose mission is to expose downtown youth and families to the benefit of healthy living through the sport of triathlon, and Live Grit Soars, which helps young people in disadvantaged communities build physical and emotional strength through the sport of triathlon. Together, the two organizations are training nearly 100 children for the Kids Tri.

Additionally, more than 30 athletes will compete as part of the Dare2Tri group, an organization whose mission is to improve the lives of people with physical and visual impairments by building trust, community, health and well-being through triathlon.

The Multisport & Fitness Expo, considered the flagship show of sport, is free and open to the public from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday August 26th and from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Saturday August 27th at the Hilton Chicago, 720 South Michigan Ave.
